3 fundamental truths about happiness

All human beings want to be happy, but very few people are genuinely happy!

Happiness is second only to survival on the scale of things that we want from life. Of course, happiness means different things to different people, but it has remained a constant (and often elusive) target for humans since time immemorial. In fact, we want most of what we want in life because we think it will guarantee happiness. That’s why everyone wants the best partner, the best career, a great reputation, and a happy home.

Happiness describes a state of contentment and joy where euphoria dominates your days. Happiness refers to a collection of positive emotions that leave you feeling joyous. Happiness can put a big spring in one’s step and push you to emotional heights you didn’t even know existed. To be happy is to experience positive emotions consistently.

Unfortunately, very few people get to stay happy for a considerable length of time. Happiness and sadness are fleeting opposites, and everyone will get a taste of both from time to time. But most people simply do not enjoy happiness for any extended period.

Things are worse than ever!

We now live in a global village where every mind on Planet Earth is potentially connected to billions of other minds (and their ideas, opinions, and thoughts) at the swipe of a screen. Unfortunately, with the advancement in technology and the dominance of social media, there has been a greater increase in unhappiness. People spend countless hours on the Internet and leave with nothing but grandiose ideas of what their life should look like.

Too many people hate their lives because they are constantly being presented with standards that are not theirs. The world is also majorly capitalistic, focusing heavily on productivity being repaid with material possessions. Children are also affected. They are pushed to want to be the best among their peers. Therefore, it is not surprising to see generation after generation of unhappy people.

To truly experience happiness in its raw, undiluted form for an extended period, it is crucial to understand the rules behind it.

At the core of happiness are three fundamental truths.

1. Happiness is to be attracted and not chased. So be true to yourself and stay positive.

2. Life is unfair and messy, but that does not mean you should continue moaning about it. Life is in phases, and hard times will not last.

3. When you give out good vibes, you will receive happiness and positivity in return from the Universe.

The seven golden rules of happiness are built around these truths. If you can begin to apply the rules today, I promise your life will take a positive turn.
